俺の親父はウナギが嫌いだった

お袋が小さい時に死んで、男手一つで俺と妹を大学までやってくれた。親父は食べないが、土用丑の日には決まってウナギ屋に連れていってくれ、俺と妹にとっては一年で一番の贅沢だった

先日親父が亡くなり、葬儀で叔父さんから聞いた。親父は本当はウナギが大好きだったと。嫌いということにして、余裕がない中、俺達にだけは何とかウナギを食わしてくれてたんだと。

一度も食わしてやれなかったが、親父にウナギを食わしてやったらさぞかしうまそうに食べたんだろうな…
何で食わしてやらなかったんだろう…
